Hi. My name is Alex. I am retired, originally from the UK but now residing in Thailand. This site incorporates some of the photo's I have taken since moving to Bangkok almost four years ago. I love taking pics of lightning and one day might be able to afford a decent camera with which to do so. Just now I am using a Pentax Optio A30 compact and many of the lightning pics were taken on video mode and video stills taken. Not the best quality but it does give you an idea of how the lightning progresses through the sky. Some were taken using continuous shooting mode which makes a better photograph but its harder to get the lightning. Unfortunately these are the only real options available to me at this time as, being a compact the Optio A30, although an excellent camera, does not have the facility to have an open exposure. I do have a Minolta X700 which could do this but it is not digital. It can get very expensive having film developed when there is nothing on it! With a digital you see the results instantly and its much easier to download to the computer.
